Introduction

The Academic Regulations were initially approved in June 2006 and introduced in the 2006/07 academic year. They are a key policy document approved by the Senate. They provide the regulatory framework for Anglia Ruskin’s taught undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum, setting and maintaining the academic standard of all pathways leading to an Anglia Ruskin award at all delivery points including UK and international partner institutions.

The Academic Regulations are monitored and maintained by the Academic Regulations Subcommittee. Any proposals for revisions to the Academic Regulations are developed by the Subcommittee and submitted to the Senate for formal approval.

 

Now Available - Fourth Edition (July 2011)

The Senate approved amendments to the Academic Regulations at its meeting in June 2011 and these apply for the new 2011/12 academic year. The amendments have been incorporated into the fourth edition which is now available from this webpage in pdf format. Printed copies are currently being distributed to all members of academic staff and relevant support staff.

Publications - Academic Regulations

Printed copies of the Academic Regulations (Fourth Edition, July 2011) were distributed to all members of academic staff and relevant support staff in September 2011. Additional copies are available from the Academic Office on request.

Assessment Regulations

A subset of the Academic Regulations, known as the Assessment Regulations, is distributed to all students annually and contains those sections of the Academic Regulations which are directly relevant to the assessment process. An electronic version can be downloaded from this website in pdf format:

Training and Staff Development

The Academic Office provides training for staff on the main aspects of the Academic Regulations in November and April of each year. The dates of the sessions for the 2011/12 academic year are listed below:

  • 22nd November 2011 at the Cambridge Campus from 10am
  • 25th November 2011 at the Chelmsford Campus from 10am
  • 24th April 2012 at the Cambridge Campus from 10am
  • 27th April 2012 at the Chelmsford Campus from 10am

Transitional Arrangements

Since the introduction of the Academic Regulations in July 2006 (for the 2006/07 academic year), a number of transitional arrangements were agreed and published. As a general principle, the Academic Regulations applied with effect from September 2006 to all taught pathways at all levels leading to an Anglia Ruskin award, unless otherwise stated in any of the transitional arrangements listed above.

In the vast majority of cases, these arrangements are no longer required or are no longer valid. For information purposes, full details of these transitional arrangements are provided below for the following circumstances:
